With the implementation of Benedict’s Law from September 2026, Source Supply Teachers will request that all teachers, teaching assistants and support staff complete accredited allergy awareness and anaphylaxis training as part of our safeguarding requirements through our online training platform, Florence Academy.
The new legislation is designed to enhance the safety of children and young people in schools by ensuring that education staff can recognise the signs of allergic reactions, respond effectively in an emergency, and provide appropriate support for pupils with allergies.
To meet these requirements and uphold our commitment to safeguarding, every member of our workforce will be asked to complete this training before undertaking assignments during the 2026/27 academic year. The course will also form part of our annual mandatory training programme, ensuring staff knowledge remains current and aligned with the latest guidance and best practice.
By investing in this training, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing schools with well-prepared, knowledgeable professionals who can respond confidently and appropriately in the event of an allergy-related emergency.
We thank all of our staff for their ongoing dedication, professionalism and commitment to maintaining safe and supportive learning environments for the children and young people they work with.
