Source Supply are currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a primary school in Redcar. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide one-to-one support for a key stage two pupil, helping them access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

We are looking for a patient, proactive and nurturing education professional who can build a positive relationship with the pupil, provide tailored learning support and work closely with the class teacher to support their progress.

This role would suit an experienced HLTA or a highly skilled Teaching Assistant with relevant experience supporting primary-aged children on a one-to-one basis.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and participate in lessons.
• Working closely with the class teacher to implement learning activities and support the pupil’s individual needs.
• Adapting tasks and resources to help the pupil engage with the curriculum.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Providing tailored support with literacy, numeracy and other areas of the primary curriculum.
• Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil to support their emotional wellbeing and development.
• Promoting positive behaviour and helping the pupil remain focused and engaged.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.
• Supporting the pupil’s inclusion within the wider classroom and school environment.
• Following school policies and maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Requirements

To be considered for this HLTA role in Redcar, you should have:

• HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification, or substantial relevant experience appropriate to the responsibilities of the role.
• Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or experienced Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
• Experience providing one-to-one support to primary-aged pupils.
• A good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, particularly Year 5 learning.
• The ability to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils’ learning, engagement and behaviour.
• The ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Reliability, flexibility and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
