Role: Teaching Assistant – SEND – IR Unit
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £95-£105 per day (Depending on experience and/or qualifications)
Contract: Temporary – Long term supply
About the role
Source Supply are seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a Integrated Resource Unit (IRU) within a large diverse mainstream primary school in Sheffield.
The Integrated Resource Unit provides specialist support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, enabling them to access a personalised curriculum while benefiting from inclusion within the wider school community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children’s lives and support them in achieving their full potential.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, and families to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in delivering targeted interventions, promoting independence, and creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will support pupils with SEND both within the Integrated Resource Unit and in mainstream classrooms, assisting with the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities. You will help pupils develop their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and sensory processing skills, while implementing individual education plans and behaviour support strategies. The role involves encouraging pupils to build confidence, independence, and positive relationships, monitoring and recording progress, and contributing to review meetings. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, external agencies, and parents/carers to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils, as well as supporting children during breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities as required.

Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications and training. All successful applicants will:

– Have referenceable experience working in a school setting.
– Be passionate about education, with a desire to help young people thrive.
– Be an excellent communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.
